History
Cometa { Comet } was designed by Olin Stephens/Oogie Neilson of Sparkeman and Stephens in 1946 for an eminent Chicago Lawyer John P Wilson at Henry Grebes yard on the Great Lakes.
She raced frequently and was a familiar sight on Lake Michigan for many years.
The owner had one of Olins first 6 metre yachts also named Comet.
She was bought in 2001 by Peter Woodd taken to the UK where she had a total rebuild. 2004 Olin Stephens launched her as Cometa. She arrived in the Med in the September of that year and in the Niolarge Challenge race at St Tropez beat Stormy Weather and Dorade across the line. She is a fast boat and has had line honours on a number of occasions. She was bought by Richard Herbert in Dec 2007.
