History

Oiseau de Feu was built in Southampton by Camper&Nicholson in 1937 for the commodore of the RORC, who wanted a boat to win the Fastnet race. Nicholson designed a yacht inspired by the 12MR class but liveable enough for offshore races and fast cruising. As John Leather said, “Oiseau de Feu is, among middle size yachts, the most convenient and elegant boat a sailor could dream”.

She won many inshore and offshore classic races before 1990, when it was decided to begin a two year full restoration to bring her back to her original splendour. At this time, she became one of the rare boats classified as a “French Historical Monument”. Since then, she has taken part in the mediterannean classic races, with great results.

Oiseau de Feu is based in the Vieux Port in Cannes and can be chartered for regattas, cruises or professional meetings. She is almost the only boat with whom you can win races and make wonderful luxurious cruises.
